THE ART OF TEBORITebori is the traditional Japanese method of hand poked tattoos.
It is usually performed using a rod out of bamboo or metal with an array of needles at the end.
This is less painful for the person being tattooed, and the results are always exceptional.
This method also allows the skin to absorb white ink.
Colors are brighter and more intense compared to a machine drawn tattoo.

Tattooing in Japan goes back to prehistoric times, in the late Edo period it began to develop into an artform as it is known today.
The majority of the designs are based on Ukiyo-e woodblock prints.

I learned these traditional tattooing techniques for over ten years from my master Horitoshi First in his studio in Tokyo
This style of tattooing has fascinated and inspired me since over 20 years as I´m working as a tattoo artist.
Being part of the Horitoshi First Tattoo Family, my aim as a tattoo artist is to maintain many of the old techniques and mythologies of Japanese tattooing, and offering these in my studio in Berlin- Kreuzberg and internationally.
